The Shoe Fairy
Once upon a time, there was a beautiful little girl who couldn’t walk. Her name was Dodo. While other children played outside, Dodo stayed home and listened to fairytales. Her favorite was “The Little Mermaid”, and Dodo often wondered if she would have to give up something of her own in order to own a pair of feet.
One day, Dodo’s parents took her to the hospital to have an operation. When Dodo woke up, she could finally walk, run and dance – as how she had read in the fairy tales.
From that day on, Dodo blossomed into a beautiful girl who loves to buy shoes… and more and more shoes…
One Sunday morning, while Dodo was cleaning all her lovely shoes, she suddenly had a toothache. When she went to the Smiley Dentist to be treated, she accidentally knocked him with her shoe, making a lasting impression with Smiley. After 30 dates, Dodo and Smiley got married and lived happily-ever-after. That is not the end of the story…
Everything was fine except for the fact that Dodo bought too many shoes. Finally, Smiley said to Dodo: We cannot fit any more shoes in this home of ours. Reluctantly, Dodo agreed never to walk into the shoe store again.
She instead walked away from the shoe store and into a manhole.
When Dodo woke up, she found that she could no longer walk. Dodo did not blame anyone; she just became very quiet and stayed home all day long, wallowing in misery. The sparkle disappeared from her eyes and the joy in the home evaporated as the dust collected on the shoes. Nothing could cheer her or give her comfort.
Until the day when a little match girl came to her door to sell her matches. When Dodo struck the magical matches, the flames illuminated how her gloom affected the people her who loved her the most.
Dodo finally picked up the courage to give up her most prized possession in order to discover true happiness. She packed up all her shoes and delighted all the girls with her pretty shoes and generosity of heart. Now, even though she had no more shoes, she still had her prince, and even a little baby princess.Every night, she would tell her daughter fairytales about witches, big bad wolves, mermaids, and the Happy Prince, who gave away all his belongings but was happy.
