The Heirloom

SYNOPSIS

Twenty years ago, an inexplicable mass suicide occurred in the millionaire Yang household, where the entire clan hanged to their deaths at the exact same hour, place, and height. Only one member survived. To this day, the case remains unsolved.

Twenty years later, distant relative James inherits the Yang house, moving in with his girlfriend Yo, a dancer who aspires to study in the U.S. To celebrate their engagement, they invite friends to the new home. Two close buddies- Yi-Chen (female) and Tseng (male), sleep over. Chen studied dance with Yo in college, but has since become a journalist. Tseng has known James for years and is a party animal.

The next night, Yi-Chen and Tseng mysteriously reappear at the house, both seemingly sleepwalking. When James and Yo wake them up, they can’t explain why they returned to the house. The next day, tragic news announce that Tseng was found hung to death in a hotel. Night falls, and Yi-Chen returns once more to the house in a dreamlike state.

A police detective - Detective Wu visits the house to investigate Tseng’s mysterious death. Yi-Chen,who unbeknownst to Yo had an affair with Tseng many years ago, is a suspect. Trying to catch Chen, the detective stays the night, only to find himself inexplicably returning the next evening.Determined to fight against the force behind the sleepwalking, the detective handcuffs himself to his own bed. The next day, James and Yo find his dead body in their house, his own hands cut off…

Yi-Chen, terrified that she is the next victim, decides to leave the country for good. James and Yo take her to the airport, only to witness her horrific hanging by an invisible rope in the women’s washroom. Realizing that the house may be at the heart of the supernatural deaths, Yo begins to investigate the house and the Yang family history.

Yo and James discover that the Yang fortune was built with the aid of “child ghosts”, dead babies fed on blood and refused the opportunity to reincarnate. Raising child ghosts may bring great fortune, but at the same time great doom.

Soon, James and Yo will unearth more secrets about the Yang family - and even about James himself - until they must confront the evil dwelling on the fourth floor…
